Introduction
The ADUM340x is a high-performance, quad-channel digital isolator with precise timing characteristics and low power dissipation. The device provides high electromagnetic immunity and low radiated emissions when isolating CMOS digital I/O. All versions integrate Schmitt trigger inputs for high noise immunity. The logic input and output buffers of each isolation channel are isolated through silicon dioxide insulating barriers. The ADUM340x features four channels in the same direction with output enable on the output side; the ADUM3401 contains three forward channels and one reverse channel with output enable on both sides; the ADUM3402 contains two forward channels and two reverse channels, also with output enable on both sides. All devices offer a failsafe mode option to handle loss of power or signal on the input side. The device's high isolation capability helps prevent noise and surges on data buses or other circuits from entering the local ground, thereby avoiding interference with or damage to sensitive circuits. Its high CMTI capability ensures correct transmission of digital signals. Devices in this family are available in a 16-pin SOW package, with an isolation rating of 3.75 kV RMS for all products and up to 5 kV RMS withstand voltage for wide-body package versions.
