Introduction
With the advent of 4-20 mA vibration sensors, plant personnel can now input vibration information directly into a PLC or DCS. This capability enables plant personnel to track overall machine vibration data, correlate vibration data with plant operating conditions, and allows plant operators to schedule machine maintenance tasks. Even without a vibration technician to assess machine condition, sensors that provide an overall vibration level indication to plant personnel help guide condition-based maintenance (CBM) programs. Wilcoxon's Loop-Powered Sensor (LPS™) is a self-contained 4-20 mA vibration transmitter. The LPS™ sensor can feed a 4-20 mA signal directly into a plant's control system, giving operators visibility into machine vibration conditions. Machines critical to plant operations can be continuously monitored. This data can be used to help operators determine when to perform maintenance and direct them to the machines with the most severe vibration issues. This selection guide will assist in choosing the appropriate range and type of sensor.
Features
- Configurable peak, true-peak, or RMS output signals representing velocity or acceleration.
- Dual output of temperature and 4-20 mA vibration signals provides critical data for temperature-sensitive operations.
- Dual output of dynamic and 4-20 mA vibration signal units offers an efficient method to track vibration data (4-20 mA signal) while still accessing dynamic vibration signals for deeper analysis.
- For extremely harsh environments, many devices feature intrinsically safe operation or explosion-proof enclosures.
Applications
- Predictive Maintenance
- Vibration Monitoring
