Introduction
The XLF-172H+ three-section absorptive filter employs a novel filter topology that absorbs and terminates signals within the stopband rather than reflecting them back to the source. This new characteristic opens unique applications for filter circuits that go beyond the scope of conventional approaches. Traditional filters are reflective in the stopband, returning signals to the source at 100% power level. These reflections interact with adjacent components, typically causing intermodulation and other interference. The absorptive filter eliminates stopband reflections, enabling it to be paired with sensitive devices and used in applications where circuits such as isolation amplifiers or attenuators would otherwise be required.
