Introduction
GH4112 is a motor driver IC designed for single-coil DC brushless fan and motor applications. It integrates a high-sensitivity Hall sensor and features wide operating voltage range, reverse polarity protection, locked-rotor protection, and over-temperature protection, providing reliable position detection and current driving for low-power DC brushless fans and various miniature motors.
The built-in locked-rotor protection effectively prevents equipment damage caused by rotor stalling. When the fan stops rotating for approximately 0.5 seconds, the IC automatically detects the rotor lock condition and enters protection mode, shutting down the driver for 3 seconds. The IC then re-enables the driver for 0.5 seconds to check whether rotation conditions have been restored; if not, the driver is shut down again for 3 seconds. This cycle repeats until the IC detects that the rotor has resumed rotation, at which point the IC returns to normal operation. This feature effectively prevents damage caused by IC overheating and prolonged rotor lock conditions.
A built-in reverse power supply protection feature safeguards the IC from damage when the power supply is connected in reverse polarity. A built-in thermal shutdown protection is also included to prevent damage to the motor driver under excessive temperature conditions.
The output driver stage adopts a full-bridge topology for low noise and high efficiency. GH4112 is available in TO-94 (SIP-4L) and SOT23-6-B packages.
