Introduction
PA01 and PA73 are high-voltage, high-output-current op-amps designed to drive resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads. For linearity, the PA01 uses a class A/B output stage. The PA73 uses a simple class C output stage to reduce cost in motor control and other applications where crossover distortion is not critical. By selecting a user-programmable current-limiting resistor, the safe operating area (SOA) can be observed under all operating conditions. These amplifiers are internally compensated for all gain settings. To sustain operation under load, a heatsink of appropriate rating is recommended. This hybrid IC uses thick-film (cermet) resistors, ceramic capacitors, and semiconductor dies to maximize reliability, minimize size, and deliver performance. Ultrasonically bonded aluminum wire provides reliable interconnection across all operating temperatures. The 8-pin TO-3 package is hermetically sealed and electrically isolated. Use of a compressible thermal washer and/or incorrect mounting torque will void the product warranty. The internal substrate contains beryllium oxide (BeO). Do not breach the seal. If accidentally broken, do not crush, machine, or expose it to temperatures exceeding 850°C to avoid generation of toxic fumes. +VS and -VS denote the positive and negative supply rails, respectively. Total VS is measured from +VS to -VS.
