Introduction
This series of devices are fixed-frequency PWM control circuits designed primarily to provide current-mode control for off-line power supplies or DC-DC converters, requiring minimal external components. Integrated on-chip are a trimable-frequency oscillator, a temperature-compensated precision reference voltage, a high-gain error amplifier, and a current-sense comparator. The output stage employs a push-pull configuration capable of sourcing and sinking large currents, suitable for driving MOSFET power switches. Built-in UVLO and current-limiting protection circuits are also included. Different variants differ in UVLO thresholds and maximum operating duty cycle: the UC2842 and UC2844 have turn-on/turn-off thresholds of 16V and 10V respectively, while the UC2843 and UC2845 feature thresholds of 8.8V and 7.6V. The UC2842 and UC2843 can operate at duty cycles approaching 100%, whereas the UC2844 and UC2845 are limited to approximately 50% duty cycle.
