Introduction
The TPS2595xx series of electronic fuses (integrated FET hot-swap devices) are highly integrated circuit protection and power management solutions in a small package. These devices offer multiple protection modes with few external components and can effectively protect against overloads, short circuits, voltage surges, and excessive inrush currents. The output current limit level can be set via a single external resistor. Accurate sensing of the output load current can also be achieved by measuring the voltage drop across the current limit resistor. For applications with specific inrush current requirements, the output slew rate can be set via a single external capacitor. Overvoltage events are quickly limited to a safe fixed maximum by an internal clamping circuit without the need for external components. The TPS259573 model provides an option to set a user-defined overvoltage cutoff threshold. In the TPS2595x5 models, a fast output discharge function can be implemented by connecting the OUT pin to the QOD pin. These devices have a unique operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
