The AD5272/AD5274 are single-channel 1024/256-position digital rheostats that combine industry-leading variable resistance performance with nonvolatile memory (NVM) in a compact package. These devices offer end-to-end resistance tolerance error of less than 1% and provide 50-times programmable (50-TP) memory. The industry-leading guaranteed low resistance tolerance error characteristic simplifies open-loop applications, as well as precision calibration and tolerance matching applications. The wiper setting of the AD5272/AD5274 is controlled via an I2C-compatible digital interface. Unlimited adjustments can be made before programming the resistance value into the 50-TP memory. These devices require no external voltage source to blow fuses and offer 50 opportunities for permanent programming. During 50-TP activation, a permanent fuse-blowing command locks the wiper position in place (similar to applying epoxy to a mechanical trimmer). The AD5272/AD5274 are available in 3mm×3mm, 10-lead LFCSP and 10-lead MSOP packages. An extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +125°C is guaranteed.
