Introduction
The TPS54A24 is a full-featured 17V, 10A synchronous step-down DC/DC converter in a standard 4mm×4mm WQFN package. The device is specifically optimized for high efficiency with integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs, suitable for compact solutions. It further saves space by using peak current mode control (reducing component count) and selecting a high switching frequency (reducing inductor size). Peak current mode control simplifies loop compensation and provides fast transient response. In the event of device overload, cycle-by-cycle peak current limiting for both high-side and low-side sink current limits protects the device. Discontinuous mode limits MOSFET power dissipation when a short-circuit or overload fault persists. The power-good monitoring circuit monitors the regulator output. The PGOOD pin is an open-drain output that goes high-impedance during output voltage regulation. Unless a fault occurs, an internal blanking time prevents the PGOOD pin from being pulled low. A dedicated EN pin can be used to control the regulator on/off and to adjust the input undervoltage lockout. The output voltage startup ramp is controlled by the SS/TRK pin, which supports both independent power supply operation and tracking mode.
