Introduction
The LM22674 switching regulator uses a minimal number of external components to provide all the functions needed to implement a high-efficiency, high-voltage step-down regulator. This easy-to-use regulator integrates a 42V N-channel MOSFET switch capable of delivering up to 500mA of load current, with excellent line and load regulation and high efficiency (>90%). Voltage-mode control provides a short minimum on-time, enabling the widest input-to-output voltage ratio. Internal loop compensation eliminates the need for users to calculate loop compensation components. The regulator is available in both a fixed 5V output and an adjustable output voltage option. The 500kHz switching frequency allows the use of small external components and achieves good transient response. A precision enable input simplifies regulator control and system power sequencing. In shutdown mode, the regulator draws only 25μA (typical) of quiescent current. The built-in soft-start function (500μs typical) saves external components. The LM22674 also incorporates thermal shutdown and current limiting to protect the device against accidental overload.
