Transient voltage filter R-C networks (resistor-capacitor) are used in circuits where transient voltages may cause malfunction or damage to solid-state controls or control systems (such as PLCs, CNCs, NCs, solid-state counters, etc.). RCs are typically connected in parallel with single-phase inductive loads (such as motor starter coils, contactor coils, solenoid valves, etc.) to absorb transient voltages generated when the load is de-energized.
