Introduction
The MSP430FR2000 and MSP430FR21xx devices are part of the value series sensing product portfolio. This ultra-low-power, low-cost MCU series offers FRAM unified memory with memory sizes ranging from 0.5KB to 4KB and comes with a variety of package options, including a small 3mm×3mm VQFN package. The architecture, FRAM, and integrated peripherals, combined with multiple low-power modes, are optimized for extending battery life in portable and battery-powered sensing applications.
The MSP430FR2000 and MSP430FR21xx series MCUs feature a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and a constant generator that helps achieve maximum coding efficiency. The digital controlled oscillator (DCO) typically allows the device to wake up from a low-power mode to an active mode in less than 10µs. The feature set of this MCU can meet the requirements of applications ranging from appliance battery packs and battery monitoring to smoke detectors and fitness equipment.
The MSP ultra-low-power (ULP) FRAM microcontroller platform combines unique embedded FRAM with a comprehensive ultra-low-power system architecture, enabling system designers to enhance performance under low-power conditions. FRAM technology combines the low-power, fast write, flexibility, and durability of RAM with the non-volatility of flash memory.
The MSP430FR2000 and MSP430FR21x series MCUs are supported by a broad hardware and software ecosystem, which provides reference designs and code examples to assist users in quickly starting their designs.
