Introduction
The MSP430 series of ultra-low-power microcontrollers includes a variety of devices, each featuring a distinct set of peripherals tailored for diverse applications. This architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to extend battery life in portable measurement applications. The device is equipped with a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and a constant generator that enhances coding efficiency. The Digital Control Oscillator (DCO) can wake up from a low-power mode to an operating mode in less than 1µs.
The MSP430G2x21/G2x31 series of products is an ultra-low-power mixed-signal microcontroller. This microcontroller comes with a built-in 16-bit timer and ten I/O pins. The MSP430G2x31 series has a 10-bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter and built-in communication capabilities using synchronous protocols (SPI or I2C).
Typical applications include low-cost sensor systems. These systems are responsible for capturing analog signals, converting them into digital values, and then processing the data for display or transmission to a host system.
