Introduction
The TPA3111D1-Q1 device is a 10W high-efficiency Class-D audio power amplifier for driving bridge-tied load (BTL) speakers. Advanced EMI suppression technology enables users to use low-cost bead filters at the output while meeting EMC requirements. The SpeakerGuard protection circuitry includes an adjustable power limiter and a DC detection circuit. The adjustable power limiter allows users to set a virtual voltage rail below the chip's supply voltage to limit the amount of power through the speaker. The DC detection circuit can measure the frequency and amplitude of the PWM signal and will turn off the output stage if the input capacitor is damaged or there is a short circuit at the input. The TPA3111D1-Q1 can drive a single-channel speaker down to 4Ω. When playing music, the TPA3111D1-Q1 device's high efficiency of over 90% eliminates the need for an external heat sink. The output is fully protected against short circuits to GND, VCC, and output-to-output. Both short-circuit protection and thermal protection have automatic recovery features.
