Introduction
The LM2734-Q1 regulator is a high-efficiency PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 6-pin thin SOT package. This device offers all the useful functions to provide local DC/DC conversion with fast transient response and precise regulation in the smallest possible PCB area. The LM2734-Q1 regulator is very easy to use, requiring a minimum number of external components and offering online design support through WEBENCH. The device can drive a 1A load with an internal 300mΩ NMOS switch using state-of-the-art 0.5μm BiCMOS technology, achieving the best power density. The world-class control circuit enables a turn-on time as low as 13ns, supporting extremely high-frequency conversion over the entire 3V to 20V input operating range with a minimum output voltage of 0.8V. The switching frequency is internally set to 550kHz (LM2734Y) or 1.6MHz (LM2734X), allowing the use of very small surface-mount inductors and chip capacitors. Despite the high operating frequency, an efficiency of up to 90% can be easily achieved. It has an external shutdown function, resulting in an ultra-low standby current of 30nA. The LM2734-Q1 regulator uses current-mode control and internal compensation to provide high-performance regulation under various operating conditions. Other features include an internal soft-start circuit to reduce inrush current, cycle-by-cycle current limit, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
