Introduction
The winding elements of MKP capacitors consist of metallized polypropylene film. This winding construction achieves low losses and high pulse current capability. The capacitors are impregnated with soft PU resin. The winding end faces are connected by metal spraying to ensure reliable, low-inductance connections between the leads and the individual layers. Leads are soldered or brazed to these end faces, routed through insulating elements (plastic), and brazed to the terminals. All gaps between windings and between windings and the housing are filled with impregnant, which not only improves dielectric strength but also enhances heat dissipation within the capacitor. The impregnant used is free of PCB and halogens. All MKP capacitors feature self-healing capability, meaning voltage breakdowns self-repair within microseconds without causing a short circuit.
