Installation instructions for NEMA NR010 electrical outlet. The outer diameter of wire (including insulation) must not exceed 3.6mm for 12AWG wire and 3mm for 14AWG wire. Use a cover or assembly tool to push the wire into the IDC terminal. The force required to push the wire into the IDC depends on the wire used. Correct wire installation is critical for proper operation of the NEMA NR010 in terminal equipment. Compatible wires for IDC contacts are insulated single-core solid wire, 1.5 - 2.5mm², 12 - 14AWG. Insulation standards must comply with UL 758 in the US and IEC 60228 in Europe, with an outer diameter not exceeding 3.5mm. When installing with a cover, the IDC contacts must be clean and undistorted; position the wire, place the cover, use the cover to press the wire into the IDC contacts, and the cover must snap into the body. Assembly force depends on the wire used and may require up to 900N; a single wire requires 300N of force to press the wire into the IDC terminal until it contacts the plastic socket of the NR010. When using an assembly tool, refer to the specified dimensions; the installation method is similar to using a cover.
