Introduction
The AW8898 is an I²S/TDM input, high-efficiency digital smart-K audio amplifier integrating a 9.5V intelligent boost converter, audio enhancement algorithms, and speaker protection. With a noise floor of 11.5 μV and ultra-low distortion, it delivers a pristine listening experience. At a 4.2V battery voltage, it provides 5.2W (RMS, THD+N = 1%) output power into an 8Ω speaker. The device integrates a high-efficiency intelligent boost converter as the power rail for the Class-D amplifier. The boost converter output voltage is intelligently adjusted based on input amplitude, maximizing efficiency while eliminating clipping distortion. The AW8898 employs a proprietary AGC algorithm to prevent clipping noise and enhance audio quality. It supports combined speaker and receiver applications. In receiver mode, VDD is connected directly to the Class-D amplifier power supply. Thanks to the digital audio input interface, the AW8898 offers high RF rejection, completely eliminating TDD noise. General configuration is communicated via the I²C bus interface, with a configurable device address. The AW8898 provides short-circuit protection, over-temperature protection, under-voltage protection, and over-voltage protection. The device is available in a 3.5mm × 3.5mm QFN-24 package with 0.4mm pitch.
