The highly reliable CG/CG2 series gas discharge tubes provide a high level of surge protection in a compact size, making them ideal for board-level circuit protection. Gas discharge tubes operate as switches with minimal energy dissipation, enabling them to handle currents far exceeding those of other types of transient voltage protection devices. Their gas-filled, rugged ceramic-metal construction makes them well-suited for harsh environments. The series is available in multiple configurations, including surface mount, axial lead, straight lead, and formed lead, to accommodate various mounting methods. The CG series (75V–110V) is ideal for protecting test and communications equipment and other applications requiring low voltage clamping and extremely low arc voltage. The CG2 series (145V–1000V) is ideal for protecting equipment requiring higher voltage clamping and holdover voltage.
