With the availability of 4-20 mA vibration sensors, plant personnel can now feed vibration information directly into their PLC or DCS. This capability enables plant personnel to track overall vibration data from their machines and correlate vibration data with plant operating conditions, allowing plant operators to schedule mechanical maintenance tasks. Wilcoxon's Loop-Powered Sensors (LPS) are self-contained 4-20 mA vibration transmitters. LPS sensors feed 4-20 mA signals directly into the plant's control system, giving operators access to machine vibration status. Machines critical to plant operation can be continuously monitored. This data can then be used to help operators decide when to perform maintenance and direct their attention to machines with the most severe vibration issues.
