Description
This thermally protected varistor is a self-protected device consisting of a 25mm square varistor and an integrated thermal disconnect that opens when overheating occurs due to abnormal overvoltage (as described in UL1449). The device helps facilitate surge protective device modules to comply with UL1449, and provides fast thermal response due to the integrated thermal element located in close proximity to the varistor body. This configuration also provides lower inductance than most discrete solutions, improving clamping performance against fast overvoltage transients. The device features a separate microswitch that can be used to indicate that the varistor has been disconnected from the circuit. This separate switch provides complete isolation of the monitoring circuit from the main power supply, ensuring the safety of the indication circuit and simplifying the customer's circuit design.
