The ADuM3190 is an isolated error amplifier using iCoupler technology, ideally suited for linear feedback power supplies. Compared to commonly used optocoupler and shunt regulator solutions, its primary-side controller offers improvements in transient response, power density, and stability. Unlike optocoupler-based solutions, the ADuM3190's transfer function does not change over its lifetime and remains stable across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The ADuM3190 integrates a wideband op-amp suitable for a variety of common power supply loop compensation techniques, with sufficient speed to allow the feedback loop to respond to fast transient and overcurrent conditions. The device also incorporates a high-precision 1.225 V voltage reference for comparison with the power supply output setpoint. The ADuM3190 is offered in a compact 16-lead QSOP package with an isolation voltage rating of 2.5 kV rms.
