Introduction
The R-GAGE sensor transmits high-frequency radio waves via an internal antenna; a portion of the transmitted energy is reflected back to the receiving antenna, and the signal processing electronics determine the distance from the sensor to the object based on the time delay of the returned signal. The sensor is configurable via DIP switches to detect objects within a specified distance while ignoring objects beyond that distance (background suppression). The sensor operates in the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) telecommunications band, and its rugged IP67 housing withstands harsh environments. The sensor can detect objects containing metal, water, or similar high-dielectric materials, with a detection range of 1 m to 3.75 m, supply voltage of 12 V DC to 30 V DC (12 V DC to 24 V DC for KR models), maximum output power ERP of 3.3 mW (5 dBm) and EIRP of 100 mW (20 dBm), power polarity reversal and transient overvoltage protection, power-on delay of less than 2 seconds, dual-polarity NPN/PNP output at 150 mA, normally open (default) or normally closed operation selectable via DIP switch, short-circuit protected output, and response time selectable via DIP switches 7 and 8.
