ADI RPT87FS

The RPT-86 and RPT-87 are monolithic repeater circuits containing all active functions required for a regenerative PCM repeater. These devices automatically adjust gain to optimize signal levels, determine the presence of pulses, and retransmit the reconstructed pulses. The RPT-86 and RPT-87 support data rates from below 100kbit/s to over 3Mbit/s, and are compatible with T1 (1.544Mbit/s), CEPT/E1 (2.048Mbit/s), and T1C (3.152Mbit/s) systems.

A key feature of the RPT-86/RPT-87 repeaters is the ability to operate from a single 5.6V supply, with a typical quiescent supply current of only 10mA. In addition, the RPT-86 and RPT-87 incorporate two automatic line buildout (ALBO) diodes that work in conjunction with a high-gain preamplifier to achieve a dynamic input signal range of over 50dB.

The RPT-87 also includes a clock inhibit circuit. This inhibit circuit monitors the input signal level and disables the clock drive to the output latch if the input signal falls below the level at which pulses can be accurately reconstructed. This prevents noise or crosstalk from being falsely detected as valid data and retransmitted.
