Introduction
The ADS8862 is a 16-bit, 680kSPS single-ended input analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This device operates with an external reference from 2.5V to 5V, providing a wide signal range without additional signal conditioning. This reference voltage setting is independent of and can exceed the analog power supply voltage (AVDD). The device provides a compatible SPI serial port. This serial port also supports daisy-chain operation for cascading multiple devices. An optional busy indicator bit enables easy synchronization with the digital host. This device supports unipolar single-ended analog inputs in the range of -0.1V to V_REF + 0.1V. The device operation is optimized for extremely low-power operation. Power consumption is directly proportional to speed. This feature makes the ADS8862 well-suited for lower-speed applications. The ADC power supply does not require a separate LDO.
