Introduction
AMC1303 (AMC1303x0510, AMC1303x0520, AMC1303x2510 and AMC1303x2520) is a family of high-precision Δ-Σ modulators whose output is separated from the input circuit by a double capacitive isolation barrier with excellent EMI immunity. This isolation barrier is certified to provide reinforced isolation up to 7000 VPK in accordance with DIN V VDE V 0884-11 and UL1577 standards. When used with an isolated power supply, this isolated modulator can separate components in systems operating at different common-mode voltage levels and protect lower-voltage components from damage. The AMC1303 input is optimized for direct connection to shunt resistors or other low-voltage signal sources. The ±50mV input voltage range option enables significant reduction of power dissipation across the shunt. The AMC1303 output bitstream is synchronized to an internally generated clock and is Manchester-encoded (AMC1303Ex) or non-encoded (AMC1303Mx). By decimating the bitstream using an integrated digital filter — such as those found in the TMS320F2807x or TMS320F2837x microcontroller families — the device achieves 16-bit resolution with 85dB dynamic range at an effective output data rate of 78kSPS. The Manchester-encoded AMC1303Ex version's bitstream output supports single-wire data and clock transmission, with no concern for the setup and hold time requirements of the receiving device.
