Microchip Technology's HCS500 is a hopping code decoder designed specifically for secure Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) systems. The HCS500 utilizes the patented KEELOQ code hopping system and a high-security learning mechanism, making it a turnkey solution for implementing one-way remote control and access control systems when used with HCS encoders. The HCS500 can be used as a standalone decoder or in conjunction with a microcontroller.
The manufacturer's code, encryption key, and synchronization information are stored in encrypted form in an external EEPROM. The HCS500 communicates with the host controller device via S_DAT and S_CLK inputs.
The HCS500 operates over a wide supply voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V. The decoder features automatic bit rate detection to compensate for wide variations in transmitter data rates. The decoder incorporates sophisticated error-checking algorithms to ensure that only valid codes are accepted.
