The TPS5433xA series devices are synchronous converters with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V. These devices integrate a low-side switch FET, eliminating the need for an external diode and reducing component count.

Efficiency is significantly improved through integrated 128mΩ and 84mΩ MOSFETs, low IQ, and pulse-skip mode under light load. The shutdown supply current can be reduced to 2μA via the enable pin. The reference voltage of this buck converter maintains 1.5% accuracy over the full temperature range, providing precise regulation for various loads.

Cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-side FET protects the TPS5433xA series devices under overload conditions, while low-side power current limiting prevents current runaway, enhancing functionality. Low-side sink current limiting turns off the low-side MOSFET to prevent excessive reverse current. A hiccup protection feature is triggered when an overcurrent condition persists beyond a preset time. Thermal shutdown disables the device when the die temperature exceeds the threshold and re-enables it after a built-in thermal hiccup interval.
