CLM3080E–CLM3089E are ±15kV ESD-protected RS-485/RS-422 high-speed transceivers, each containing one driver and one receiver. These devices feature a failsafe circuit that ensures a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all drivers connected to a terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver output will be logic high. CLM3080E/CLM3081E/CLM3082E feature reduced slew-rate drive to minimize EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 115kbps. CLM3083E/CLM3084E/CLM3085E feature a higher driver output slew-rate limit, supporting transmission speeds up to 500kbps. CLM3086E/CLM3087E/CLM3088E have no slew-rate limiting on the driver, enabling transmission speeds up to 10Mbps. The CLM3089E slew rate is pin-selectable via a single tri-state driver to accommodate data rates of 115kbps, 500kbps, and 10Mbps. All devices feature enhanced ESD protection. Using the human body model, all driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15kV. Under no-load or full-load conditions with the driver disabled, these transceivers typically consume 375μA of supply current. All devices feature 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus. CLM3082E/CLM3085E/CLM3088E are designed for half-duplex communication. CLM3080E/CLM3081E/CLM3083E/CLM3084E/CLM3086E/CLM3087E are designed for full-duplex communication. CLM3089E is configurable for either half-duplex or full-duplex operation, with independent, pin-selectable transceiver output polarity.
