Introduction
The DAC8771 is a single-channel, precision, fully integrated 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with adaptive power management functionality, suitable for industrial control applications where low power consumption is a critical issue. Once enabled, the adaptive power management circuit can minimize the power consumption of the chip. After being programmed for current output, the power supply voltage on the current output driver is regulated within the range of 4V to 32V by a buck/boost converter based on the continuous feedback of the voltage at the current output pin. After being programmed for voltage output, this circuit generates a programmable power supply voltage for the voltage output stage (±15V). The DAC8771 includes an LDO to generate a digital power supply (5V) from a single power supply pin, which is particularly suitable for supporting isolated applications where low power consumption is a critical issue. It has a 5V internal digital power supply output. The DAC8771 also features a HART signal interface, supporting the superposition of an external HART signal on the current output. The slew rate of the current output DAC is programmed via a register. This device can be powered by a single external power supply from +12V to +36V when using the integrated buck/boost converter, or by multiple external power supplies when the buck/boost converter is disabled.
