Taoglas PCS.50A

The Taoglas Universe PCS.50.A is a patent-pending active cellular and GNSS antenna designed for IoT devices with small ground planes. It offers unprecedented integration, combining aperture tuning and active switching technologies to provide wideband coverage for GNSS and 4G cellular bands, including the most challenging 700MHz band. The antenna features an RF switch that adjusts the antenna's resonant frequency according to device requirements. Aperture tuning technology enables the antenna to cover the entire 4G LTE band spectrum by tuning the antenna's resonant frequency to the desired operating band. Additionally, a second active switch can be simply added if selection between cellular or GNSS is required. The PCSD.50.A is compatible with radio modules supporting the RF Front-End (RFFE) control interface, through which the radio module controls the active RF switch to adjust the antenna resonant frequency for efficient operation across multiple bands, improving RF capability by 3dB over standard passive solutions and enhancing Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS). The PCSD.50.A is easy to integrate using standard SMD technology, and with Taoglas integration support, implementing an active solution is straightforward, with various design files available on demand. The antenna can be tuned by simply selecting the optimal switch configuration for best antenna performance. The PCSD.50.A is tuned for a PCB measuring only 40×50mm, making it suitable for the smallest IoT and CAT-M devices.
