PA83 is a high-voltage operational amplifier designed to achieve output voltage swings up to ±145V with dual supply or 290V with single supply. The input stage is protected against transient and steady-state overvoltage up to the supply rails. High accuracy is achieved through a cascode input circuit configuration. All internal biasing is referenced to zener diodes powered by FET constant-current sources. As a result, PA83 offers an unprecedented supply voltage range and excellent power supply rejection ratio. The output stage is biased in class A/B mode for linear operation. Internal phase compensation ensures stability at all gain settings without external components. Fixed current limiting protects the amplifier against short circuits to common at supply voltages up to 120V. For driving inductive loads, two external freewheeling pulse-protection diodes are recommended. However, under normal operating conditions, a heatsink may be required to maintain proper case temperature. This hybrid circuit uses a beryllium oxide substrate, thick-film resistors, ceramic capacitors, and silicon semiconductor dies to maximize reliability, minimize size, and deliver performance. Ultrasonically bonded aluminum wire provides reliable interconnections across all operating temperatures. The 8-pin TO-3 package is hermetically sealed and electrically isolated. Use of compressible thermal isolation washers and/or incorrect mounting torque will void the product warranty.
