Descrizione
A varistor is a component with voltage-current characteristics that support rapid current flow under certain voltage conditions. The function of a varistor is to protect electronic components in circuits from overvoltage. Connected in parallel within a circuit, the varistor provides protection. When a pulse (pulse current Is: determined by pulse voltage Vs and impedance Zs) is applied to the circuit, the pulse current (Is) clamps the pulse voltage within the varistor's clamping voltage Vc. Due to its ability to absorb abnormal voltage and current pulses, a varistor can protect electronic components with very high efficiency.
