The output of the device has a positive slope as the current through the primary copper conduction path (from pins 1–4 to pins 5–8, the path used for current sensing) increases. The typical internal resistance of this conduction path is 265 μΩ, enabling low power dissipation. The terminals of the conduction path are electrically isolated from the sensor pins (pins 9–16). This allows the ACS724/5LMC current sensor ICs to be used in high-side current sensing applications without the need for high-side differential amplifiers or other costly isolation techniques. The ACS724/5LMC comes in a custom SMT package similar to SOIC16. The pin pitch matches that of a standard SOIC16, but the lead frame thickness is 2.5× greater to reduce resistance. The package body is designed to achieve a creepage/clearance distance greater than 8.2 mm. The lead frame is plated with 100% matte tin, compatible with standard lead-free PCB assembly processes. The device is internally lead-free. Devices are fully calibrated prior to shipment.
