A MagnetoPot (Magnetic Potentiometer) tracks motion in a non-contact manner. It is a sealed potentiometer that requires no wiper/actuator connection between the collector and resistor, controlled by an external magnet that attracts an internal magnetically coupled linear resistor to provide linear potentiometer feedback. Its internal wiper is magnetic or ferromagnetic and must be used in conjunction with an external magnet. Unlike magnetic-based reed switches, it provides full linear stroke sensing for hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders. In liquid level applications, it can be mounted outside a liquid tank to detect the position of a magnet inside a float, avoiding water ingress and environmental wear on components. Constructed from polyester, fiberglass, and polyimide, it can function as a voltage divider, resistor, or rheostat, providing linear position sensing based on external magnet position, and should not be mounted on ferromagnetic surfaces.
