Descrizione
The AD790 is a fast (45 ns), precision voltage comparator featuring a rich set of functional characteristics and ease of use. The device can be powered by a 5 V single supply or ±15 V dual supplies. In single-supply mode, the AD790's inputs can be referenced to ground — a feature not available in other comparators. In dual-supply mode, it offers the unique ability to handle up to 15 V differential voltage at the input pins, simplifying interfacing with large-amplitude dynamic signals.
The AD790 is fabricated using a complementary bipolar (CB) process, delivering fast response time and excellent input voltage resolution (0.1 mV maximum). To maintain speed and accuracy, the device incorporates a "low glitch" output stage that eliminates the large current spikes commonly associated with TTL or CMOS output stages. The controlled switching of the device reduces power supply disturbances, which can feed back to the input and cause spurious oscillations. In addition, the AD790 features a latch function, making it suitable for applications requiring synchronous operation.
The AD790 is graded into five performance levels. The AD790J and AD790K are rated for the commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. The AD790A and AD790B are rated for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The AD790S is rated for -55°C to +125°C.
Caratteristiche
