Descripción
The TUSB8040A is a four-port USB 3.0 compatible hub in a 100-pin QFN package, designed for operation over the commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. The TUSB8040A provides simultaneous SuperSpeed USB and high-speed or full-speed connectivity on the upstream port, and SuperSpeed USB, high-speed, full-speed, or low-speed connectivity on the downstream ports. When the upstream port is connected to an electrical environment that supports only high-speed, full-speed, or low-speed connectivity, SuperSpeed USB connectivity on the downstream ports is disabled. When the upstream port is connected to an electrical environment that supports only full-speed or low-speed connectivity, both SuperSpeed USB and high-speed connectivity on the downstream ports are disabled. The TUSB8040A supports up to four downstream ports and can be configured to report one to four downstream ports via pin selection, a connected EEPROM, or an SMBus controller. This configuration option provides the ability to scale the device per application.

- Per-port or ganged power switching with overcurrent notification input
- Status outputs: high-speed upstream connection, high-speed upstream port suspended, SuperSpeed USB upstream connection, SuperSpeed USB upstream port suspended
- Optional serial EEPROM or SMBus controlled interface for custom configuration: VID/PID, manufacturer and product strings, serial number
- Each downstream port individually configurable via pin strapping or EEPROM/SMBus controlled interface: enable/disable, removable or permanently attached (for composite applications), battery charging enable/disable
- 128-bit Universally Unique Identifier (UUID)
- Optional USB 2.0 compatible port indicator LED support
- Configurable SMBus address for multiple devices on the same SMBus segment
- On-board and in-system EEPROM programming via USB 2.0 upstream port
- Single clock input, 24MHz crystal or oscillator
- No special driver requirements; seamless operation with any USB stack-supporting OS
