Description
The TSW-10 module is designed to measure the turbidity (suspended particle content) of wash water in washing machines and dishwashers. The optical sensor for washing machines is a measurement product that uses refraction at the wavelength between a phototransistor and a diode to measure the density of turbid water or the concentration of impurities. By utilizing a phototransistor and a photodiode, the washing machine optical sensor measures the amount of light transmitted from the light source to the light receiver to calculate water turbidity. The operating principle of this sensor is based on the fact that when light passes through a water sample, the amount of light transmitted through the sample depends on the dirt content in the water. As the dirt content increases, the amount of transmitted light decreases. The turbidity sensor determines the turbidity of the wash water by measuring the amount of transmitted light. These turbidity measurements are provided to the washing machine controller, which uses these values to determine the wash duration for each wash cycle. These decisions are based on a comparison between the clean water measurement (taken at the beginning of the wash cycle) and the wash water turbidity measurement taken at the end of each wash cycle. By measuring the turbidity of the wash water, the washing machine can limit washing to only the necessary duration under light soil load conditions, thereby conserving energy and reducing costs for consumers.
