The ADS79xx is a family of 12/10/8-bit pin-compatible multi-channel analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). These devices incorporate a capacitor-based successive approximation register (SAR) ADC with inherent sample-and-hold. They accept a wide analog power supply range from 2.7V to 5.25V. The extremely low power consumption makes these devices suitable for battery-powered and isolated power supply applications. A wide I/O power supply range from 1.7V to 5.25V enables these devices to interface seamlessly with the most common digital hosts. There are two software-selectable input ranges (0V to VREF and 0V to 2×VREF), independently configurable general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins (4 for TSSOP and 1 on devices with VQFN packages), and two programmable alarm thresholds per channel. These features make these devices suitable for most data acquisition applications. These devices have a powerful power-down feature. This feature is very helpful for energy saving when the devices operate at lower conversion speeds. The 16-channel and 12-channel devices in this family are available in 38-pin TSSOP and 32-pin VQFN packages, while the 4/8-channel devices are available in 30-pin TSSOP and 24-pin VQFN packages.
