In addition, the digital circuitry provides filtering, linearization of the pressure signal, and clamping functionality. The device delivers an analog output proportional to pressure. A wire-break detection module actively drives the analog output to one of the supply rails when the supply or ground connection is broken. Extensive supply line protection enables the MLX90817 to handle extreme overvoltage conditions and withstand severe external disturbances. Multiple diagnostic functions (overvoltage, undervoltage, overpressure, and underpressure detection) are implemented on the 90817 and can be enabled via programmable EEPROM settings.
