KEMET's automotive-grade high-voltage surface mount MLCCs utilize X7R dielectric with a maximum operating temperature of 125°C, classified as "temperature stable." The EIA categorizes X7R dielectric as a Class II material. These components are fixed ceramic dielectric capacitors suitable for bypass and decoupling applications, or frequency discriminator circuits where Q factor and capacitance stability are not critical. X7R capacitance change over time and voltage is predictable, with minimal variation relative to ambient temperature. Capacitance change is limited to ±15% over the temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

Whether located under the hood or in the passenger compartment, these capacitors are designed to deliver reliable performance in mission-critical and safety-related automotive circuits. Given the potentially harsh environmental conditions, automotive-grade products are subject to more stringent test protocols and inspection standards.
