The HC670 and CD74HCT670 are 16-bit register files, each organized as a 4-word × 4-bit structure. The read/write address and enable inputs allow simultaneous reading of one location while writing to another. The devices provide four data inputs for storing 4-bit words. The write address inputs (WA0 and WA1) determine the storage location of the word in the register file. When the write enable (WE) is low, the word is written to the addressed location and remains transparent to the input data, with the outputs reflecting the true form of the input data. When WE is high, the data and address inputs are disabled. Data from any of the four registers is accessed via the read address inputs (RA1 and RA0). When the read enable (RE) is low, the addressed word appears at the outputs. When RE is high, the outputs are in a high-impedance state. The outputs of multiple devices can be connected in parallel to expand the word capacity to 512 × 4 bits.
