Beschreibung
The USB3340 is a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 transceiver providing a physical layer (PHY) solution for portable electronic devices, supporting both commercial and industrial temperature applications. Multiple advanced features reduce eBOM component count and PCB area. Excellent ESD robustness eliminates the need for external ESD protection devices in typical applications. An internal overvoltage protection circuit (OVP) protects the USB3340's VBUS pin against voltages up to 30V. By utilizing a reference clock from the link, the USB3340 eliminates the need for a dedicated crystal reference in the design, reducing cost. The USB3340 integrates 3.3V and 1.8V regulators, enabling operation from a single power supply. The device is optimized for portable applications where low operating and standby current are critical.
Merkmale
- USB-IP Battery Charging 1.2 specification compliant
- Link Power Management (LPM) specification compliant
- Integrated ESD protection circuit, up to ±25kV IEC air discharge without external components
- Over-Voltage Protection (OVP) circuit protects VBUS pin against continuous DC voltages up to 30V
- Integrated USB switch enables single USB port connectivity with: battery charging, stereo and mono/microphone audio, USB full-speed/low-speed data
- RapidCharge Anywhere™: delivers up to 3× higher charging current than conventional solutions via USB port; supports USB-IF Battery Charging 1.2 specification for any portable device; provides up to 1.5A charging current via compatible USB host or dedicated charger; supports Dedicated Charging Port (DCP), Charging (CDP), and Standard (SDP) Downstream Ports
- flexPWR® technology: ultra-low current design for battery-powered applications; "sleep" mode tri-states all ULPI pins and places device in low-current state; 1.8V to 3.3V IO voltage
- Single-supply operation: integrated 1.8V regulator; integrated 3.3V regulator; 100mV dropout voltage
- PHYBoost: programmable USB transceiver drive strength for signal integrity recovery
- VariSense™: programmable USB receiver sensitivity; "chip-scale" design for optimal timing performance and ease of design; low-latency high-speed receiver (43 HS clocks max), enabling use of legacy UTMI links via ULPI bridge
- External reference clock operation available: ULPI clock input mode (60MHz supplied by link), 0 to 3.6V input drive tolerance; accepts "noisy" clock sources as reference for internal low-jitter PLL; crystal support
- Smart detection circuit identifies USB charger, headset, or data cable insertion
- Full On-The-Go (OTG) protocol support (as specified in the On-The-Go Supplement Revision 2.0 specification)
- Supports OTG Host Negotiation Protocol (HNP) and Session Request Protocol (SRP)
- UART mode for non-USB serial data transfer
- Internal 5V cable short-circuit protection with ID, DP, and DM lines connected to VBUS or GND
- Industrial operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C
- 32-pin QFN package, RoHS compliant (5×5×0.90mm height)
