Introduction
The bq5105x devices are high-efficiency wireless power receivers compliant with the Qi standard, featuring an integrated lithium-ion/lithium-polymer battery charging controller for portable applications. The bq5105xB devices offer high-efficiency AC/DC power conversion, integrate the digital controller required for the Qi v1.2 communication protocol, and provide all the necessary control algorithms for safe and efficient charging of lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries. When paired with the bq500212A transmitter-side controller, the bq5105x can provide a complete wireless power transfer system for direct battery charger solutions. Through near-field inductive power transfer, the receiver coil embedded in the portable device can receive the electrical energy emitted by the transmitter coil. The AC signal from the receiver coil is then rectified and regulated to apply the electrical energy directly to the battery. To stabilize the power transfer process, a global feedback mechanism from the receiver to the transmitter is established. This feedback is established using the Qi v1.2 communication protocol. The bq5105xB devices integrate a low-impedance synchronous rectifier, a low-dropout regulator (LDO), digital control, a charger controller, and precise voltage and current loops in a single package. The entire power stage (rectifier and LDO) uses low-impedance N-MOSFETs (with a typical on-resistance of 100mΩ) to ensure high efficiency and low power consumption.
