Introduction
The CS817x20/CS817x22 series ultra-low-power digital isolators utilize Chipanalog's "pulse coding" capacitive isolation technology, with a quiescent current as low as 90μA per channel. These CMOS-compatible isolated digital I/O interfaces feature an isolation rating of up to 3kVRMS and a typical common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of ±150 kV/μs, providing high electromagnetic immunity and low EMI. All device versions employ Schmitt-trigger inputs for high noise immunity. Each isolation channel contains a logic input and output buffer separated by a capacitive silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation barrier, requiring only two VDD bypass capacitors to implement a digital signal isolation solution. The CS817x20/CS817x22 series offers all possible unidirectional channel configurations to accommodate 2-channel digital I/O applications. The CS817x20HS and CS817x20LS feature two channels for unidirectional digital signal transmission; the CS817x22HS and CS817x22LS devices have one forward channel and one reverse channel. All devices in this series feature default outputs. When the input is unpowered or open-circuit, devices with the LS suffix default to a low output, while devices with the HS suffix default to a high output. This series of digital isolators is based on a simple isolation architecture, providing a robust isolated data path with no special considerations or initialization required at startup. The series operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +105°C and is available in an 8-pin SOIC narrow-body package.
