The CA-IF48xx series are low-power RS-485/RS-422 transceivers designed for reliable communication in noisy environments. The devices provide ±30V overvoltage protection on bus communication pins to ensure bus reliability. The ±15V common-mode input range exceeds the RS-485 standard requirement of -7V to +12V, making them well-suited for industrial applications with high ground potential differences between systems, long-line transmission, or strong interference. The transceivers also provide ±15kV (full-duplex devices) or ±30kV (half-duplex devices) ESD protection on driver outputs and receiver inputs, eliminating the need for additional system-level protection components.

CA-IF48xx devices integrate one driver (TX) and one receiver (RX), operating over a +3.0V to +5.5V supply voltage range, compatible with both +3.3V and +5V supply systems. In this series, CA-IF48xxHS/HM/HD are half-duplex transceivers, while CA-IF48xxFS/FM/FD are full-duplex transceivers. The CA-IF4820 and CA-IF4850 support data rates up to 20Mbps and 50Mbps respectively; the CA-IF4805 features a slew-rate-limited design supporting communication rates up to 500kbps to reduce EMI. The receiver in each device integrates a failsafe circuit to ensure the output remains high when the receiver input is shorted, open, or idle.

CA-IF48xx series devices operate over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Compact 8-pin MSOP and 8-pin DFN packages are available for space-constrained applications, while the industry-standard 8-pin SOIC package enables easy drop-in replacement of equivalent products.
