Introduction
The TSOP98... series devices are the latest generation of miniaturized IR receiver modules for infrared remote control systems. This series offers improved sensitivity to remote control signals in dark environments, as well as improved sensitivity in the presence of optical interference such as that from compact fluorescent lamps.
These devices consist of a PIN diode and a preamplifier assembled on a lead frame. An infrared filter is included in the epoxy package. The demodulated output signal can be directly connected to a microprocessor for decoding.
The TSOP982.. and TSOP984.. series devices are designed to receive long burst codes (10 or more carrier cycles per burst). The third digit indicates the AGC level (AGC2 or AGC4), and the last two digits indicate the bandpass frequency (see table below). Higher AGC provides better noise suppression but lower code compatibility. AGC2 provides basic noise suppression, while AGC4 provides enhanced noise suppression. In general, it is recommended to select the highest AGC that satisfactorily receives the required remote control codes.
These components are not qualified to automotive specifications.
