Introduction
The NTE74HCT240 (inverting outputs) and NTE74HCT244 (non-inverting outputs) are tri-state buffers in 20-pin DIP packages that utilize advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology as general-purpose high-speed buffers. They feature high drive current outputs, enabling high-speed operation even when driving large bus capacitances. These circuits offer speeds comparable to low-power Schottky devices while maintaining the low-power characteristics of CMOS. Both devices are TTL input compatible with a fanout capability of 15 LS-TTL equivalent inputs. Each device has two active-low enable inputs (1G and 2G), each independently controlling 4 buffers. These devices are designed for interfacing between TTL and NMOS components and standard CMOS devices, and serve as direct replacements for LS-TTL devices to reduce power consumption in existing designs. All inputs are protected against ESD damage by diodes connected to VCC and GND.
