Introduction
The TC74HC165A is a high-speed CMOS 8-bit parallel/serial-in, serial-out shift register fabricated using silicon gate C²MOS technology. It achieves high-speed operation comparable to equivalent LSTTL while maintaining the low power consumption characteristic of CMOS. The register consists of an 8-bit shift register with parallel or serial inputs and serial output, featuring a gated clock input. When the SHIFT/LOAD input is HIGH, serial data input is enabled and the 8 flip-flops shift serially on each clock pulse; when the SHIFT/LOAD input is LOW, parallel data is asynchronously loaded into the register on the positive-going edge of the clock pulse. The CK INH input should only be driven HIGH when the CK input is HIGH. All inputs are protected against electrostatic discharge and transient overvoltage.
