Introduction
The UCC28950-Q1 enhanced phase-shift controller is based on the improved industrial standard UCCx895 phase-shift controller product series. The improvements made provide the best efficiency among similar products in current high-efficiency power supply systems. The UCC28950-Q1 performs advanced control of the full bridge while effectively controlling the synchronous rectifier output stage. The primary-side signal allows programmable delay to ensure ZVS operation over a wide range of load currents and input voltages, while the load current naturally adjusts the secondary-side switching delay of the synchronous rectifier, thereby greatly improving the overall system efficiency. The UCC28950-Q1 also provides multiple light-load management features, including burst mode and dynamic SR on/off control when entering and exiting discontinuous current mode (DCM) operation, thus ensuring that ZVS operation is extended to lighter loads. In addition, the UCC28950-Q1 supports voltage mode control occurring together with peak current, a programmable switching frequency of up to 1 MHz, and a wide set of protection features including cycle-by-cycle current limit, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and thermal shutdown. It facilitates the arrangement of 90-degree phase-shifted interleaved synchronous operation between two converters. The UCC28950-Q1 is available in a thin shrink small outline package (TSSOP)-24.
